As a Christian, one of the directives the Apostle Paul gave us was to keep on growing in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. As I think back to when I first became a Christian, I knew absolutely nothing about this new life. I didn't know how to pray, I didn't know how to meditate, I didn't know how to allow the Holy Spirit to lead me, and I didn't know how to lean on the strength of the Lord and allow him to fight my battles (Exodus 14:14). But I learned...
It started with me simply having an earnest desire to want to be closer to the Lord and please Him. I prayed my simple prayers, asking him to show me what I needed to know. I read my bible (without fully understanding what I was reading), and just believed. Day by day, the Lord answered my prayers and I began to get the information, instruction, and revelation I needed to successfully navigate this life. While my life is not perfect, it is much improved because I knew where my help comes from (Psalm 121:2).
Friends, even though life can be complicated, hard, frustrating, draining, messy, and just plain discouraging at times, there are two things we must know:
A) Christ Loves You
B) Believe In Him
If you can comprehend these two things, you will overcome anything that comes your way!
To change your situation, circumstance, attitude, behavior, thoughts, actions, or words, read the bible and stand on God's promises. He gave us His Word because He knew we would need it. He never said we would not have trouble, but to take heart because He has overcome the world, and you can too, if you have Jesus. (John 16:33)
If I have not made my point yet, let's take a moment and put this in perspective:
The God of Heaven, Maker of this World and everything in it (Psalm 146:6), the One and Only who gave His Son so that we may have life (John 3:16) thinks this much of you and me. He gave us everything He has (His Son) and what we needed to know (His Holy Word), and all we have to do is pray, believe, and take action on faith (Hebrews 11:1). I'm sure you can think of more things in this world that is harder or more complex than this!
As a Child of God, you have a responsibility to keep growing in your knowledge and faith. You have a mission to accomplish and there are so many others who will be blessed and encouraged by your walk with Him. Your courage and your faith allows others to see what is possible with Him. Don't shy away from what you are called to do, and already equipped to overcome.
